MSW Students Coordinate Effort To Save Money, Share Caps And Gowns

As graduation draws near, many students are finding that costs are adding up. The regalia for graduation costs over $100.00. There are a handful of students who would like very much to participate in this portion of the graduation ceremony but are not able to afford it. To address this problem, the Student Faculty Committee and a few concerned students are currently organizing a fundraiser and used gown drive to help defer some of the costs of the graduation regalia. They are asking students that may still have their graduation cap and gown, to  consider donating it or allowing it to be borrowed by a current MSW student. Valerie McGuiness, the student who coordinated this effort will arrange pick up of graduation items from the Athens or Atlanta area. According to McGuiness, reusing the gowns is not only cost-effective, but environmentally responsible

Any students interested in participating in this cap and gown drive are encouraged to contact Valerie McGuinness at valerie.mcguinness@gmail.com. Or you can call her at 706-968-1766. Students will be accepting used gowns and/or monetary donations until March 30, 2012.
